COMPLETION DATE: March 2011
CONTRACT VALUE: $14.35 million
SCOPE: This 45,800m2 project, situated on the prime industrial land at Adelaide Airport, has delivered our client with arguably the best structural steel fabrication plant in the country. Construction included a 16,500m2 warehouse, 2,500m2 office and 27,000m2 of external pavements.
FACTS: The warehouse component is built on a massive scale with the capacity to fabricate over 30,000 tonnes of steel on an annual basis. In addition to the fabrication process the facility incorporates its own paint shop complete with the most sophisticated painting equipment available. The two-storey office building design is a testament to what can be achieved with the use of structural steel. With features such as a central atrium, utilising 36 exposed plate steel columns, polished concrete stairs and acoustic wall panelling the atrium forms the centre piece of the building. The external façade of the office has been screened with a custom made steel structure with automated panels allowing natural light to filter through the building at the touch of a button. The entire facility is certainly one of a kind.
